Quelling rumors that have been wafting through the village for several months, last Monday (Jan. 19), Winfield Village Trustee Deborah Birutis announced her intention to run for the office of Winfield Village President in the upcoming election next spring.

Funeral services for Duane Besch, 43, 0n642 Essex Dr., were held last Thursday in West Chicago, with local police directing traffic to accommodate an overflow crowd for the fifth-generation member of one of Winfield’s founding families.
The Shelburne Farms Project took center stage for the major part of last Thursday’s village board meeting, precipitated by a scheduled vote on the amendment to the Annexation Agreement. The amended agreement would substitute M/I Homes of Chicago as the developer in place of the original builder, Kimball Hill Homes of Illinois, which finds itself in the bankruptcy court.
